With the upcoming fall play at St. Teresa High School “12 Angry Jurors,” the cast got a first-hand experience in the courtroom. Macon County Circuit Judge, Thomas E. Griffith hosted 14 members of the cast to give them an insiders perspective to into the criminal court system.

Students were given a tour of the courtroom where real criminal cases are tried here in Decatur. Additionally, they were able to see the juror’s deliberation room where they practiced a portion of their deliberation scene.

Senior Clare McCormack explained the experience saying, “It was a very different feel than I was expecting. We spent all this time pretending to be in a courthouse, but actually being there, it felt very serious and you get a whole different viewpoint. This made my role in our play more real, realizing that actual people have to do this and decide the fate of real people. It helped me understand the message behind this play better.”

The St. Teresa Drama Department is producing their rendition of 12 Angry Jurors in the Joe Venturi Gymnasium on November 17th and 18th at 7:30 p.m. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to decide what you believe about this trial… and remember, it is “guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.” Tickets are $5 for general seating and $8 for reserved seating.
