School counselors work in three domains: Academic, College and Career, and Social/Emotional to assist students with selecting high school coursework, offering guidance during the college admissions process, and providing counseling and resources during social-emotional difficulties. The Student Assistance Program counselor provides counseling to students who may require ongoing mental health counseling. The SAP counselor is at school one day a week - typically on Friday. Our counselors work closely with administration, faculty, and parents to ensure that our students are prepared for life after high school academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally. If you are concerned about a change in your student's behavior or mood, please do not hesitate to reach out to the School Counseling Office.
The Student Assistance Program (SAP) through Catholic Charities is a program designed to offer professional and confidential student counseling services within the school environment.
The Illinois State Mental Health Code states that any minor 12 years of age or older may request and receive counseling services without parental consent for a maximum of eight counseling sessions, each session lasting not more than 45 minutes. For a student 12 years old and older to receive further services beyond the initial eight sessions, signed parental consent is required.
